The Lost Ark Studio is a private recording studio that was built to help local artists get their music made, with the best gear possible, in a simple, beautiful space.
Located in Pacific Beach in San Diego, just a hundred yards or so from the ocean, we're upstairs, around the corner, in a quiet space you wouldn't know was there. But The Lost Ark Studio is more than just a space, or a recording studio.
It's a place for people like us. It's for those that love music, that want to make music, that want to help others get their music made. For those that know how difficult it can be, but won't stop trying because it is who we are. Some are great songwriters, some are great singers, some are great guitarists, and some are the ever-so-humble-but-killer rhythm sections behind them. And some are just people who want to see great music made, and will do all they can to help.
Well, it's for several reasons, really... It's a nod to Lee Perry's "Black Ark Studio" in Kingston, Jamaica - the crazy, colorful den of super sounds were "Scratch" worked his magic with some of the best session players and artists ever heard.
It's sanctuary for those looking for something other than a commercial studio - rented out one day for a jingle, the next for an industrial, then for a tracking session, the clock always ticking.
And finally, if we do it right, it will be a place where the energy and dreams of all of us will create something bigger and better than would be possible without it.
Ah... That's the interesting part. The Lost Ark is different. We don't really have hours and and we don't have rates. We're looking for specific projects, for those who have been looking for what we've been looking for, to do what we're doing except on the other side of the glass. If you are interested in working at The Lost Ark Studio, we'd be glad to invite you down to see the place to talk about your project.
